About Shelley Bush Marmon

Shelley Bush Marmon joined CJMH in 1984 after receiving her Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center. Prior to law school, Shelley worked in advertising before deciding to put her pen and paper to use helping people through the legal system.

Dedicated to providing informed and practical advice for business clients seeking a cost-effective solution, Shelley’s practice concentrates in advising businesses, financial institutions, and wealthy individuals through her specializations in bankruptcy law and decades of experience in employment law. While the two areas of law may seem to require different skill sets, Shelley thrives on pivoting between the demands of each market. Among Shelley’s hundreds of successful cases include a landmark win for her corporate client regarding an employee’s breach of fiduciary duty. In a totally different kind of assignment, Shelley has also assisted a charitable foundation in making multi-million dollar gifts to non-profit entities.

While she enjoys the excitement of the courtroom, Shelley seeks to find resolutions to avoid the stress of litigation for the firm’s clients. Her responsive and confident approach to disputes is a continuous point of appreciation from her clients.

Having first received her Bachelor of Journalism from The University of Texas, Shelley gained a wealth of knowledge about business from her time spent in advertising, specifically for Texas Monthly and Metzdorf Advertising. After realizing that she could have a greater impact on her community with a law degree, she focused on attending the University of Houston Law Center to obtain a Juris Doctor. Shelley is board certified in Business Bankruptcy by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is admitted to practice in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts. From 2006-2011, Shelley was the Texas Monthly Super Lawyer in Business Bankruptcy. In addition to her many accolades, Shelley was also the Top Rated Lawyer in Labor & Employment in 2013.

As a fourth-generation Texan and native Houstonian, Shelley cherishes what her hometown and state have to offer. When she’s not in the office, you can find Shelley stitching needlepoint, fly fishing, reading voraciously, and hanging out with her Vizslas.
